It's a February Sunday morning at just after 7am, I am enjoying the first brew of the day while making a few loose plans for the day ahead.
Daylight is still a good hour or so away but there will be no sunrise as overcast skies are forecast for the most part but I intend to get out for at least a couple of hours for another shutter therapy session.
Of late, Sundays have become my 'digicam day', with just the single camera, a couple of spare batteries and the mandatory flask of tea to enjoy along the way.
I have come to enjoy more and more these days of travelling light, just a couple of years ago, I would have had a large camera bag, tripod, filters and lenses 'just in case', then spend too much time deciding which lens to use instead of just enjoying the moment and taking the shot.
I decided to take the Lumix LX7 out today, I really like the monochrome picture profile from this little camera, perfect for today's light conditions, as well as easy access to shooting in the square format, a recurring theme for a few months now.
With over two and a half hours before the shops open for business, the city is still quiet but for the few heading to work, opportunities for 'people' shots will be sporadic but on days such as today I think about shapes and texture of the seemingly mundane that would normally pass me by.
There would have been a time in the not too distant past where I would not have bothered venturing out today, using the flat light as an excuse to justify my decision to stay home but I honestly believe that since using compact cameras, that I have become more imaginative and enthusiastic with my photography.
