A winter's day

After what seems to have been weeks of grey characterless skies and rain, winter finally arrived this weekend, with one of those beautifully bright and crisp mornings that make winter time enjoyable.

It's just after 8am when I set out, on  a regular route along the River Exe, my rucksack armed with a compact camera and a flask of tea to enjoy along the way.

A early mist was slowly clearing as the sun escaped its ethereal clutches, grass and foliage coated in a light dusting of frost, a perfect winter setting for the photographer.

Bobble hats and gloves were the order of the day for runners, walkers and cyclists all keen to take in some morning air before returning  to the warmth of home.

Colour images were predominant today but I can rarely resist at least one                                black and white photo on my walks.
