The compact Chronicles - Topsham
It is that tine of year where we look to the new year as an opportunity to make some changes, eating more healthily perhaps, or that perennial favourite, joining a gym....
My first change is beginning now, as I look to find an alternative blogging platform, as the financial demands of my current blog site are becoming a little expensive for what I actually need.
It is perhaps appropriate that the commencement of my newest photographic project 'the compact chronicles' should begin on a new platform,' in with the new' as the adage suggests.
For those who may be reading my posts for the first time, I have essentially given up on the supposed need to keep up with the latest camera gear, instead I have been purchasing older compact digicams and mirrorless cameras at budget prices and have having a blast with camera gear that I had dismissed in the past.
My most recent photo walk was around Topsham on a moody Saturday morning, a day of rain filled clouds waiting to empty their watery cargo at any time and blustery winds just hoping to snatch a hat or two away from the unwary walker.
I have brought two cameras today, the Canon G1X and my most recent recruit, a canon Powershot G15.
It is the G15 that gets most use, its controls and menus are a familiar layout and I just want to see how much like my Canon S100 it is.
One immediate advantage for my style of photography is that I can shoot square format images in RAW, the one custom button is set for aspect ratio options rather than delving into menus.
Enough words for now, how about some images?
